THE grieving father of a 20-year-old gunned down in a takeaway a year ago today hopes video footage of the murder will persuade witnesses to come forward.
Halton McCollin was shot in the back of the head in the China Garden takeaway in Chester Road, Stretford.
Police have released the video on the YouTube website, along with an appeal from Halton’s father, who lives in Astley Bridge, for justice for his son.
Halton was shot in the back of the head just before 9pm on Saturday, January 19, 2008.
He had spoken to his father hours before he was shot and they planned to watch Bolton Wanderers’ televised match against Newcastle United at Mr McCollin’s Astley Bridge home.
But Halton had been working late at the Norwich Union call centre in Manchester and decided to get something to eat instead.
His father, also called Halton aged 54, appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
He said: “We need to have people who carry out these crimes removed. We need to have justice for the likes of Halton.”
Anyone with information about Halton’s murder can contact police on 0161 856 3691 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
