A PREGNANT woman and her boyfriend who were twice caught in stolen cars, have been jailed.
Dominique Magnall and Scott Robinson pleaded guilty to theft and vehicle-related crimes at Bolton Crown Court yesterday.
David Clarke, prosecuting, told the court that on August 24 last year, Robinson and an accomplice smashed a window at a house in Turton Road, Bolton, and stole the keys to an £8,000 Peugeot 207.
Two days later, police spotted the car in Withnell being driven erratically by Robinson, with Magnall in the passenger seat.
They followed the car until it stopped five miles away in Belmont. When officers approached the Peugeot, Robinson tried to get away.
He drove at the police, forcing an officer to jump out of the way, and crashed into their van, the court heard. Police smashed the car window and used CS spray on Robinson. Both he and Magnall ran off but were later arrested.
The court heard that earlier the same month, Magnall was caught on CCTV at the Shell petrol station in Beaumont Road, Bolton, driving off without paying for fuel in a stolen £3,500 Kia Sedona.
Five days later it was spotted again, with Magnall at the wheel, in Tonge Moor.
A three-mile police pursuit followed, with Magnall driving at up to 70mph along Crompton Way and mounting kerbs before finally becoming stuck in mud at Leverhulme Park. Magnall tested positive for drugs. Robinson was found hiding behind the passenger seat. The couple, both aged 31, live in Stanley Road, Heaton.
Magnall, who is seven months pregnant with Robinson’s baby, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, driving while unfit, handling a stolen car and driving off without paying for fuel.
Robinson pleaded guilty to burglary, driving while disqualified, aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving Robinson was given a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence and banned from driving for two years. Magnall was sent to jail for 18 months and banned from driving for 12 months.
