HEALTH bosses are encouraging people to take part in the BIG Bolton Health Check before April.
They want to check everyone in the borough aged over 45 to identify those at risk of heart disease.
A bid to get all 88,000 over-45s in Bolton tested was launched in June in conjunction with The Bolton News. The scheme runs until the end of March.
The simple 10-minute test, which includes blood pressure and cholesterol checks, as well as lifestyle questions, has already identified thousands of people with more than a 20 per cent chance of developing heart problems in the next 10 years.
They are now receiving treatment or have been advised to make lifestyle changes to reduce their risk of developing heart disease, which can lead to heart attacks and strokes.
Anyone over 45 who has not had the BIG Bolton Health Check should contact their GP’s surgery.
