FC United’s hopes of shooting for a Unibond Premier Division play-off spot were dashed by a defeat in which the scoreline flattered them.
In fact it is Ashton who now find themselves in a play-off spot after a 27th minute strike from Ben Deegan and a 64th minute effort by Callum Flanagan gave them a comfortable 2-0 lead.
The Rebels’ 90th minute goal from Tommy Turner proved too little too late in a game in which they were distinctly second best.
