LEIGH Genesis, playing their first game for a month, recorded a 2-0 win at Atherton Colls in the first round of the Lancashire Challenge Trophy.
The game, delayed at the start by 40 minutes after the floodlights failed, was a drab affair and it took two goals from Sam Parkinson to brighten up proceedings.
He scored direct from a free-kick on 55 minutes and then from the spot with five minutes remaining after he had been brought down in the area.
Daisy Hill hope to play their Lancashire Trophy game at Ramsbottom United on Tuesday night.
The Goldline Trophy semi-final clash between Stoneclough and Euxton Villa fell victim to the weather just minutes before kick-off when the referee declared the Victory Park pitch at Chorley unfit. Both semi-finals will now be rearranged for January.
