A DOG that went missing while it was taken for a walk has been found dead.

Jeanette Townsend was walking Gemma, a border collie cross, in Rivington near the castle when the dog disappeared on Monday, December 1.

She made an emotional plea in The Bolton News to help find it, but the 15-year-old dog was discovered by United Utilities workers last Thursday. It had fallen into Lower Rivington Reservoir.

Mrs Townsend, from Horwich, said: “Thank you to all those people who helped.”
