THE generation gap was bridged when schoolchildren and elderly members of the community got together to celebrate the festive season.
The Farnworth branch of Age Concern held its Christmas party and invited the pupils of George Tomlinson School in Kearsley to join in the fun.
The pupils spread festive cheer, with the school band, choir and drama club providing entertainment.
Mel Hughes, head of performing arts said: “It was a fabulous event. We are so pleased to be working with the local community, particularly the elderly members of society who so often get overlooked.
“We are looking at ways we can continue working with Age Concern throughout the school year.”
Pupil Jerome Coote, aged 14, who did an Elvis impersonation, said: “It was good to let members of the elderly community see what we do. It’s not just young people who find things exciting — all people love entertainment.”
Classmate Abbie Banks, aged 15, added: “It’s good to show the work we do and for the community to have fun together.”
