Abbey Jones has won rugby league’s prestigious North-west Under-12s player of the year award.
The talented prop, who started playing when she was just six, has enjoyed great success with Westhoughton Lionesses, while also more than holding her own in the mixed form of the game.
Abbey also joined training sessions at Wigan to help develop the girls’ game and has become a valued member of the team, and was nominated for player of the match against Leeds earlier in the year.
The youngster is a great ambassador for girls rugby league and her enthusiasm, both on and off the pitch, has encouraged many girls to try rugby league for the first time. Next season, Abbey move into Westhoughton Lionesses U14s, and potential selection for the U14s North-west regional squad.
