A JUNIOR doctor managed to drive off from a man trying to break into her car at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

The incident happened at 8.30pm on Monday in the Cooper car park.

The woman physician had got in to her car and started the engine when the man started to tamper with the locks.

She managed to drive away and reported the incident to security guards in the Accident and Emergency Department.

A spokeswoman for Royal Bolton Hospital said: “We would advise colleagues to travel to their cars in groups or make use of the escort service provided by the hospital when finishing a late shift.

“We do have security guards on patrol and will be keeping a closer watch in the area. ”

Police confirmed they are investigating the incident.
