A 28-year-old man is in police custody on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was shot in the eye with an air weapon.
The woman, who is aged 18 and has not been named by police, was shot at her home, in Oram Street, Bury, just before noon on Sunday.
Police said a pellet was fired into her eye and lodged in her brain. She was taken to hospital and her condition is described as serious but stable.
On Monday, officers carried out a forensic examination of the scene and sealed off an alleyway. Police inquiries are ongoing.
