A CHRISTMAS lights switch-on ceremony and carol service will get a community into the festive spirit on Thursday.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton, Cllr Anthony and Mrs Maureen Connell, will turn on Little Lever’s lights at 7pm.
Last year’s ceremony, the first, was held at the council offices car park in Market Street and was well attended, despite heavy rain at the time. Organisers hope this year’s event will be well-supported too.
Cllr Sean Hornby said: “Little Lever still has a village community feel to it and this is an excellent example of the community celebrating together.
“It’s a double celebration this year, with the Mayor being one of our own councillors.”
This year, new lights have been put up throughout the centre of Little Lever, funded with a town centre fund from Bolton Council.
Thursday’s ceremony will be followed by a social event in St Matthew’s newly refurbished Church House, which is nearby.
