RAY Wilkins revealed Chelsea were up for a scrap when they arrived at the Reebok.

The Blues sealed their sixth consecutive victory at Wanderers courtesy of early goals from Nicolas Anelka and Deco.

And the Chelsea assistant believes the latest success owed plenty to the Londoners’ fighting spirit. “That was a fantastic performance on our behalf ,” he said, after watching the visitors take their place in the record books for a 11th successive away win, eclipsing Tottenham’s achivement set back in 1960.

“It was always going to be an extremely difficult game coming here, especially as Bolton had won four out of their last five games.

“But the spirit and commitment the players showed was first class. It was a very good performance.

“You have to respect the way people want to play their game; you have to match that and our lads were well up for a scrap and that showed.

“Once we combat that type of attitude other teams have who play against us, then our football will come through and our football shone through this afternoon.”

Wilkins was speaking to the Press after the 2-0 victory in place of manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, fuelling rumours that the Brazilian is beginning to the feel the strain at Stamford Bridge.

“I think sometimes he gets extremely tired,” said Wilkins. “He’s bound to feel pressure. We’re in a pressure business and have to get results. Felipe is no exception.

“He’s a perfectionist and he wants things done properly.”
