FC United could not handle FA Cup giantkillers Eastwood Town as they went down 4-2 in the UniBond Premier League at Coronation Park.
The Badgers, who shocked Wycombe out of the competition in the secound round of the famous trophy, were 2-0 up after 20 minutes through an Ian Holmes penalty and an Andrew Todd goal. Holmes added a third on 75 minutes before Todd struck again five minutes later.
Simon Carden’s superb volley and Kyle Wilson’s 23rd goal of the season proved no more than late consolation for Karl Marginson’s side.
Leigh Genesis continue to be frustrated by the weather as their Unibond League Challenge Cup third round fixture at Ashton United was called off due to a frozen pitch. Leigh, who hope to play the game on Monday, December 15, have not played a match since the middle of November.
Radcliffe Borough suffered their fourth consecutive Division One North defeat after losing 2-1 at Ossett Albion. They went behind to Michael Senior’s 19th-minute opener, but looked like getting something out of the game when Ian Fitzpatrick levelled a minute after the restart. But the killer goal came in the 72nd minute through Ossett’s Gareth Hamlet.
