Today we have another picture for the train-spotters out there.
Engine 48745 (what we used to call a “Big Eight” although I have no idea why) waits to cross St Helens Road, Bolton at, as we can see quite clearly, Daubhill.
The original caption simply tells us “Goods traffic working on the line at Daubhill in March 1965.”
Without an original print date on the back I cannot look up the reason for using the photograph on our microfilm.
Still, it’s a lovely shot of a working loco.
