BATON twirlers from Bolton have returned from a national tournament with a whole host of awards.
Bolton Red Rose Majorettes were named Themed Troupe of the Year at the Universal Majorette Championships in Bridlington, Yorkshire.
The troupe, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, also won first place in the Dinkies age group and the Senior Themed category.
The Babies troupe also had successes as their leader and mascot were both named as the best at the tournament. The Juniors’ leader was also named as the best at the event.
Troupe leader, Rachael Bailey, said: “These awards are excellent and really bring some excitement to our troupe’s 10th anniversary year.”
Earlier this year Mrs Bailey was given a special accolade at Bolton’s Young Woman of the year awards for services to the community.
The troupe is hosting its presentation evening for all the majorettes, family and friends tonight.
