AN office design consultancy, which began in a back bedroom with just one client, has expanded into new premises based in an refurbished textile mill.
Whitespace Consultants was the brainchild of sales manager Nicola Young and design manager Andy Wyn-Jones, who decided to set up their own business four years ago.
Now the pair head a team of five staff and have major contracts from customers across the length and breadth of the country.
Despite the success, the company had humble beginnings.
Ms Young said: “We started off working in my back bedroom with one client. We then rented three or four rooms in an old house in Chorley New Road.
“But then we needed to expand and now we have just completed the final stages of our move into Nortex Mill in Chorley Old Road.
“We have redesigned the premises to show off a variety of designs for modern offices.”
The company offers a full office refurbishment service.
This includes the fitting of partitions and ceilings, including all electrical, heating and data cabling work.
The firm also co-ordinates all the required building work, flooring, decoration and signage for offices.
It even provides plants and pictures, which means it can deliver a complete package to a detailed schedule.
The company will source desks designed to house personal computers, telephones and other devices too.
The firm’s co-owners left well paid jobs in the same industry because they were convinced they could offer clients better designs backed by an attentive personal service.
Ms Young said: “We pride ourselves on going that extra mile for our clients.
“We build personal relationships and provide a level of service that we think goes beyond what our rivals provide.
“We like being in control of our own destiny and we decided that we would concentrate on building good working relationships with clients. We feel they appreciate the fact that we deliver on our promises.”
The company provides a partial or full bespoke office design service, from measuring up of office space to providing stylish office furniture, plumbing and air conditioning systems.
