THE first interpreted advice service for non-English speaking single parents in Greater Manchester has been launched.
Charity One Parent Families/ Gingerbread's service offers single parents advice in any language on subjects such as child support, divorce, relationship breakdown, housing, benefits, tax credits, disability, education, training and employment.
Natasha Benenson, head of direct services at One Parent Families/ Gingerbread, said: “When a relationship breaks down parents need a lot of support and those whose first language is not English may lack the confidence to speak to advisers one to one.
“Our interpreted advice service means that single parents can call and be assured that there is someone there who can speak to them in their first language, communicate their worries to us and get the advice they need to sort them out.”
Single parents who wish to use the service should call 0800 018 5026, Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5pm. For more information visit www.oneparentfamilies.org.uk.
