FASHION week came to Little Lever School as young designers showcased their creations on the catwalk.
The secondary school staged its annual ARTECH exhibition featuring art work, textile designs and technology products produced during the last 12 months by GCSE students.
The highlight of this year’s exhibition — which is now in its fifth year — was a catwalk show.
The theme of Little Lever School’s fashion week was recycled fashions in which old clothes were cut and remodelled into new pieces based on current fashion trends.
Pupil Nicola Holden, aged 14, said: “The theme was really topical given the current economic climate and the importance of recycling.
“I created clothes in punk and hippy style. I had to do a lot of research, but it was great recycling clothes and people can make their own.”
Designer and model, Sam Sech, aged 14, said: “It really has felt like we have been staging a fashion week, it’s been hard work, fun and hectic.” And designer Georgia Hollis, aged 14, said: “It gave us all a buzz to see our work displayed like that. It was brilliant that people were coming in to look at our work.”
As well as showcasing fashion, the exhibition featured art works and woodwork and metal pieces together with graphic designs.
Head of art, Simon Cordwell, said: “The standard of work gets higher every year and the pupils have surpassed themselves again. It makes them proud to have their work seen by parents, the public and local businesses.”
