ATHLETICS: The ladies section of Burnden Roadrunners took the club honours at the Wesham 10K race.
Sixteen Burnden members competed in a field of 500 who braved the freezing fog.
Once again it was the women of the who stole the show with some strong individual and team performances.
Issy Hughes was first home for the Smithills-based club, taking third place in her category in a time of 41mins 52secs.
Lesley Fisher was first in the ladies over-45s race and Anne Ferguson was second in the ladies over-50s.
The Burnden ladies team finished an impressive second out of a strong field of 15 clubs.
Andy Staveley was first home for the men and third veteran over-45 in a time of 36:57 while Brian Duffy was third veteran over-55 in 37:37.
Burnden men’s team also finished a respectable sixth out of 27 teams from across the North-west.
