KATIE Ingram was Horwich Harriers’ most impressive performer in the English Cross Country Series race in Liverpool.
Against many of the best cross country runners in the country, Ingram, pictured, finished 23rd in 28mins 55secs, with Suzanne Budgett 75th in 33mins 10secs.
Gareth Booth (34:01) in 119th was the first Harrier in the men’s race. Alastair Murray (34:51) was 150th, Guy Heyes (36:07) 180th, Brendan Bolland (37:22) 203rd, Steve Nolan (37:10) 197th and Tony Hesketh (40:14) 269th.
In the South East Lancashire cross country race at Clayton Vale, Cameron Critchley and Tom Hughes were fourth and ninth, in 8:43 and 9:55 in the under-11s race.
Sam Boardman was fifth place in the under-13s in 11:59.
The under-17s ladies’ race saw April Stevenson finish a super second in 22:06 and Bethan Faulkner sixth in 25:28.
Stevenson leads the series with Bethan fourth.
In the ladies’ race, Lisa Heyes was an impressive third in 30:45.
Ten of the 12 Horwich senior men were veterans and two of them led the Horwich pack home.
Steve Nolan was 16th and third veteran over-40 in 39:33, while Rob Haworth was 22nd and third veteran over-50 in 40:38, just ahead of Simon Parkinson who was 23rd in 40:23 and Chris Leigh, 40th in 42:55.
The chasing pack of vets included Gary Chadderton 47th (43:36), Tony Hesketh 48th, first veteran over-60 (43:47), Peter Kevan 62nd (44:45), Colin Wood 71st (45:38), Colin Waterworth 77th (46:58), Peter Ramsdale 85th (48:03), Barry Allman 89th (48:46) and Gordon Stone 100th in 51:22.
