BUDDING artists let their imaginations run wild to create wonderful works of art.

And to their delight, their Bolton school, Harwood Meadows, had the paintings professionally displayed in the school hall for its first art exhibition.

Every child in the school had their work showcased for parents and friends to see.

So popular was the event, that the school in Harwood is looking to make it a main feature on its calendar.

Headteacher Siobain Barnes said: “There were 240 paintings displayed, ranging from modern abstract art to scenic paintings.

“Every class at the school chose a theme to paint about.”

She added: “The exhibition is part of the school’s work to unlock every child’s talent.

“They were all thrilled to see their work displayed in professionally and were so proud of what they had painted.

“Parents have asked if we could now make this an annual event.”

The exhibition was opened by local artist Brian Barlow, who is currently displaying his work at Harwood Library.

“He spoke to the children and was very encouraging — the children will now visit his exhibition,” said Ms Barnes.
