Hundreds of commuters faced another day of strife getting to work today as ice made conditions treacherous on many estate roads.
Although main roads were clear many motorists found it difficult moving off their drives.
And icey conditions on town centre pavements made conditions equally difficult for pedestrians.
Bolton Council workmen were busy on Victoria Square at 7.30am spreading sand to help make it safer to walk across the town's busiest shopping area.
