CASTLE Hill moved up to second place in the Lancashire Amateur League Division One with a hard-fought 2-1 win against their rivals Horwich Vic.
It was the visitors who opened the scoring, when a quick free-kick was met at the back post by Daniel Warburton who headed home.
The home side pressed forward and were rewarded with a penalty, only to miss it. But they were soon level when they scored with a quality free-kick.
The second half saw the fog descend and the unbeaten visitors went ahead again when Phil Roberts scored from the spot.
Castle Hill Res won 4-1 at Chew Moor Brook, and could have the league sewn up by the start of the new year. Greer scored two, Bates one and the other came from an open goal.
The thirds won 6-1 at Bury GSOB with Banks and Johnston scoring hat-tricks.
