YOU know the build-up to Christmas is really hotting up when the residents of Mossfield Court in Halliwell stage their annual lights switch-on.
Each year the street, nicknamed Moss Vegas, unveils its spectacular lights and collects money which they donate to charity.
Three years ago they were awarded £5,000 by GMTV, which they donated to charity, and last month Moss Vegas was used as the backdrop for the video for Peter Kay’s charity record.
Some people may feel that Christmas arrives too early, but the Moss Vegas switch-on serves three purposes — it raises money for charity, it makes the area come alive and brings a little brightness into people's lives.
