IN 1943 these young ladies lining up to receive their first aid certificates from the St John Ambulance Association are virtually standing to attention. And the officer handing the certificates over is wearing gloves. This photograph was brought into the office by Looking Back regular Mike McEwing, along with the certificate that was handed out, on that day, to his Aunt, Vera Seddon. Aunt Vera is the young lady standing to the left of the one having her certificate handed over by the very smart officer.
