ATHERTON LR wasted a glorious chance of victory after Silsden grabbed a draw in injury-time of their Vodkat Premier Division clash.
Silsden led 1-0 at the break with a 20th minute strike from Aaron Hollindrake, but minutes later were reduced to 10 men when left back Danny McNulty was shown a red card for a dangerous tackle on Paul Jones.
The visitors had the better of the chances, but LR rode their luck and levelled from a Paul Crompton corner when Daniel Smith took advantage of a goalmouth scramble.
Tireless Phil Howard looked to have grabbed a suprise win for LR when he scored from close range in the 90th minute, but a defensive error in injury-time allowed the visitors’ substitute Lee Reilly to square the game.
Atherton Colls had an equally exciting finale as they came back from 2-1 down to snatch a dramatic 4-3 win.
A Neil Davies penalty in the 25th minute put them level, three minutes after Rhodri Giggs had put Bacup ahead.
The visitors regained the lead in the 60th minute through Steve Shiels, but Colls hit back through Troy Hayder in the 74th minte and Craig Hoyland six minutes later.
Sutcliffe and Giggs both struck in injury-time, but Colls hung on for three valuable points.
Daisy Hill continued their recent resurgence in the First Division with a superb 1-0 victory at Eccleshall.
Manager Craig Thomas welcomed back players from injury but also a new face in experienced midfielder Martin Hastings, a former Daisy player.
Craig Coote got the vital goal with 20 minutes to go and although Daisy soaked up a lot of pressure late on in the game he was confident his side would hold on.
“We never looked in trouble and maintained an excellent defensive structure,” he said. “Hastings and Nick Irwin were excellent in the middle, while having Paul Johnson vack at centre-half made a difference as he is big and strong.
“I would have settled for a point before the game but to have three is great and it has pushed up the table.
“We have a good spirit and the subs bench is getting stronger but I would still like to recruit more players.”
