ALAN Cork believes the feelgood factor generated by Wanderers’ first team has spread to the reserves Gary Megson’s side have surged up the table and that has had a knock-on effect on Bolton’s second-string, according to Cork.

The reserves boss saw Zoltan Harsanyi’s 86th-minute piledriver seal the points against bottom club Hull and ruin Stelios’s homecoming at Leyland’s County Ground on Wednesday night.

The former Reebok favourite looked like he had earned the Tigers a share of the spoils when he cancelled out Marcos Michail’s seventh-minute goal.

But the Slovakian’s superb late strike lifted Bolton to sixth in the Barclays Premier Reserve League North.

“I thought we looked quite lively and you can tell the players are enjoying it,” said Cork. “Chris Basham and Tope Obadeyi have been part of the first-team squad, who are doing well, so it’s working nicely for everyone. The younger players see them getting a chance and that gives them a boost.”

Cork was forced to field an even younger team than usual with Friday’s FA Youth Cup clash with Doncaster, which Bolton won 2-0, in mind. Schoolboys Jack Sampson, Nathan Battersby and Alex McQuaid all came off the bench after the break.

Young Cypriot striker Michail turned in Harsanyi’s low cross before Adam Bogdan gifted Stelios the equaliser when, under no pressure, the goalkeeper dropped Brian Hughes’ free-kick and the veteran Greek international pounced on 15 minutes.

Chris Basham produced a superb clearance off his own line after Ryan Kendal had lifted his shot over an advancing Bogdan on 55 minutes, before Harsanyi smashed home Temitope Obadeyi’s cross from a tight angle to complete a fine team display.

Wanderers: Bogdan, Eckersley (Battersby 45), Sinclair, Sissons, Basham, Fojut (McQuaid 64), Burns, Sheridan, Obadeyi, Michail (Sampson 45), Harsanyi. Subs not used: Lainton, Bennett.
