FULL TIME - That's it! A fine performance from Wanderers, a debut for Chris Basham, two goals for Johan Elmander and the return of the Ginger Mourinho chant... what next? Let us know what you think...
88mins - Chris Basham
Johan Elmander
87mins - McCann (foul on Chimbonda)
85mins - The stadium is emptying rapidly now. The Sunderland back four are being barracked by their fans at every opportunity.
78mins - Sunderland, to their credit, are trying to make a game of this and keep pushing forward. The Wanderers fans haven't noticed, they are busy organising a Conga line.
73mins - Elmander so close to the hat-trick. Excellent football with Kevin Davies, and a finish inches wide of the post.
72mins - Jones gets close to another cross fizzed across the six yard box. It just isn't going for Sunderland. The crowd has been announced, and it isn't big. 35, 457.
68mins - "Megson give us a wave" the Bolton fans demand. The manager obliges, but fires a knowing smirk back to the dugout when a chant of "Ginger Mourinho" is fired back in his direction.
62mins - Malbranque + Reid
Tainio + Miller
58mins - Reid tries his luck from the edge of the box but Jaaskelainen is equal to his low shot.
55mins - Sunderland put themselves in trouble again, Nolan seizes on the opportunity and unselfishly squares for Elmander to score his second of the game. Sunderland 1 Wanderers 4.
51mins - McCann forces an excellent save out of Gordon with a right-footed effort. Well palmed away by the Scotland number one.
50mins - Quiet start to the first half, which is probably just as Gary Megson would have wanted it.
45mins - Richardson (Sunderland) + Taylor (Wanderers)
Leadbitter (Sunderland) + Gardner (Wanderers)
45mins - Some great football from Sunderland to make Wanderers remember they haven't won it yet. Cisse ends up crossing for Jones, who misses connecting with a diving header by inches.
39mins: A howler from Danny Collins lets Elmander in. The Swede cuts in from the angle and finishes perfectly. Two goals in two games! Sunderland 1 Wanderers 3.
37mins: Diouf is warming up on the sidelines to the strains of "Diouffy's coming home". He waves and poses for the fans - wonder what Roy Keane will make of that?
35mins: Another let-off for Wanderers. Jones carried the ball with menace toward goal and squared for Malbranque, but his poor shot hit the side netting.
31mins: Elmander should have made it three. Played through on goal, he danced round Gordon but took the ball too far and sent his shot well wide of goal. Hope the Whites don't live to regret that.
A breathless game so far, though!
30mins - Scrub that, well, almost. Sunderland have a goal chalked out after Kenwyne Jones heads against the bar and Cisse turns the ball home. The linesman flagged for a foul on Samuel. Phew...
25mins - The locals are restless here, and rightly so. To paraphrase the chant that is going on to the right of me, they were 1-0 up and stuffed it up.
21mins - Andy O'Brien lofts a free-kick in towards Davies. Cahill collects it and rifles a low shot past Gordon - It's all change here at the Stadium of Light. Sunderland 1 Wanderers
20mins - Richardson (foul on Davies)
18mins: What a header from Taylor! Steinsson delivered a floating cross from the right and he outjumped Chimbonda to header an inch under Craig Gordon's cross bar. Superb. Sunderland 1 Wanderers 1.
14mins - Unsurprisingly, that has set the Sunderland fans going. All the Whites needed to do was keep it tight for the first 15 minutes and I'd be willing to be it would be a very different atmosphere.
11mins: Malbranque slides a ball through for Cisse who hits it low right-footed into the bottom corner via the post. Sunderland 1 Wanderers 0.
10mins - Wanderers force their third corner but are nearly caught on the break by the rapid Cisse. Excellent tackle from Fabrice Muamba halts his progress.
8mins - First shot of the afternoon. Kenwyne Jones nearly plays Djibril Cisse through but the ball comes back off the striker's heels. He sends a low shot towards goal, collected by Jussi Jaaskelainen.
7mins - Nice bit of pick-pocketing from Kevin Nolan to take the ball from Phil Bardsley. His final ball doesn't reach Johan Elmander, though.
2mins - It's quickly followed by a second but comes to nothing after Kevin Davies heads well wide of the mark.
1min - Wanderers force their first corner. Jlloyd Samuel raiding down the left.
2.59PM - The teams are out and the news that Anton Ferdinand has been dropped to the bench is still rankling with the Sunderland fans sitting in the seats around me. There seems to be some doubt as to whether Pascal Chimbonda can play centre half.
2.51PM - The atmosphere is building up nicely here at the ground, with the strains of Elvis Presley belting out from the speaker system. It's a cold day on Wearside but 17 coach-loads of Bolton fans made the trip.
GARY Megson has named an unchanged side to face Sunderland this afternoon.
Wanderers could, if results go their way, climb as high as seventh in the Premier League and with the Black Cats under pressure to perform in front of their home crowd, they might never get a better chance.
Roy Keane's side, just a place above the bottom three, have lost their last three home games.
By contrast, Wanderers' form on their travels matches that of Manchester United - and Megson has stuck with the side which swept aside Middlesbrough last week.
There is no place in the Sunderland side for former Reebok favourite El-Hadji Diouf and a surprise recall for Craig Gordon in goal. Anton Ferdinand also drops to the bench after last week's 1-0 defeat to West Ham.
Sunderland: Gordon, Bardsley, Nosworthy, Collins, Chimbonda, Malbranque, Cisse, Richardson, Whitehead, Jones, Reid. Subs: Tainio, Diouf, Miller, Murphy, Leadbitter, Ferdinand, Fulop.
Wanderers: Jaaskelainen, Samuel, Nolan, Cahill, Muamba, Taylor, Elmander (Smolarek 84), Davies, Steinsson, McCann, O'Brien. Subs not used: Al Habsi, Gardner, Riga, Shittu, Basham, Obadeyi.
Match referee: Chris Foy (St Helens)
