TWO teenagers stumbled into a supermarket covered in blood after they were stabbed following an argument in a nearby park.

One of the teenagers was stabbed in the neck and another in the leg as an argument escalated into a violent attack in Astley Bridge Park at about 9.30pm last night.

The two victims, thought to be aged 16 and 17, managed to walk to Asda in Blackburn Road after they were stabbed, accompanied by four friends.

The group told supermarket staff that two of their friends had been stabbed, and shop worker Ben McSorley dialled 999.

The pair were taken to Royal Bolton Hospital in two ambulances while police began to hunt for the attackers.

Mr McSorley, aged 17, said the victims told him they had been drinking and talking to a group of lads in the park when an argument broke out.

One of the group is alleged to have said: “Do you want me to stab you?” before plunging the knife into his victim.

A security guard administered first aid before the ambulances arrived, and the two teenagers left a trail of blood on the pavement and inside the supermarket foyer.

Shopper Nicole Bayley, aged 17, from Smithills, said one of the teenagers had a two to three inch-long gash on the back of his neck, but the other victim was bleeding more profusely from his leg.

She said: “There was blood everywhere. It was dripping from that guy’s leg all over the place.”

Police were last night hoping to speak to the victims in hospital as they launched a hunt for the attackers.

Det Sgt Mike Gladwin said: “Obviously the medical treatment is paramount, but we are going to speak to them.

“It is very early days.”
