A THREE-car crash on a busy Bolton road caused rush-hour traffic chaos yesterday.

Two people were taken to hospital after the crash in Trinity Way at 4.20pm.

The collision involved a Vauxhall Astra, a Citroen Saxo and a Nissan Almera.

Two people were taken to hospital; the Saxo driver with minor chest and abdomen injuries from his seatbelt, and a passenger in the Astra with minor leg injuries. The drivers of the Astra and Nissan were unhurt.

Firefighters cordoned off the scene, closing two lanes of traffic for more than an hour.

Watch commander Andy Hardman said the damp weather made driving conditions difficult.

He said: “It was quite an impact and the people involved were lucky not to have suffered more serious injuries.”
