GARY Megson believes Wanderers’ away form has been key to their revival.

The in-form Whites travel to Sunderland on Saturday full of confidence after winning three of their last four games.

Two of those victories have come on the road, including last weekend’s superb 3-1 triumph at Middlesbrough.

Wanderers have now won three times away from home – one more than they managed in the Premiership in the whole of last season – and have taken the same number of points on their travels as Manchester United. They have also scored eight times compared to just 13 in the 19 away trips in the league last term.

And the Whites boss admits that has made a huge difference after seeing his side take maximum points at West Ham and Hull, as well as the Riverside.

“We didn’t start off too well but went down to West Ham and got a great result which really spurred us on,” said Megson.

“Of late we have picked up immeasurably, but all we are doing differently is scoring goals.

“Our best performance probably came at Newcastle, where we missed chance after chance and threw away the opportunity to win the game.

“We go to Sunderland with a bit of confidence, knowing that we can go away from home and pick up points. We didn't have that last season.”

Megson is set to name an unchanged side to face the Black Cats, with only Joey O’Brien still missing with a thigh injury.
