A FOOTBALL festival with a twist is taking place in Farnworth today.
The street football tournament is a fast and furious three-a-side version of the game, set to music and where skills and tricks count as goals.
The event is being held in Harper Green Leisure Centre from 10am to 6pm and local people are invited to have a go.
There will be skills workshops and the opportunity to get involved in dancing.
Zaks, a Farnworth youth project, will be bringing their non-alcoholic mobile bar and a street dancing troupe from Farnworth will be providing entertainment.
Martin O’Gorman, a Farnworth resident and a football development manager of a local team, organised the event with help from Bolton Council and Greater Manchester Police.
“We want as many people, of all ages to come along. Street football is a professional sport in Holland and it’s a great way for children to express themselves. We think this event will really help put Farnworth on the map,” said Martin.
Entrance is £3, payable on the door.
