JUST hours after surviving the terrorist massacre in Mumbai, North-west MEP Sajjad Karim had a message for Bolton businessmen thinking of visiting the city next year — the show must go on.
Mr Karim, said: “Of course the trip must go ahead. Businesses must come to Mumbai — it’s a fantastic 24-hour, colourful and vibrant city. What has happened here has happened in London, Madrid, Istanbul and Paris but we must not let these people frighten us.”
Mr Karim was speaking just a few hours after he came face to face with a terrorist killer at the Taj Mahal Hotel.
He said: “He started firing at the people a few feet in front of me. It was terrible — they stood no chance. As I turned to run, I really felt I would be shot in the back at any moment, but I was lucky and managed to turn into a small corridor which led to a kitchen.
“We are now somewhere safe with heavy security and I can’t wait to get back home and see my family.”
