COUNCILLORS have approved plans to build modern homes in Astley Bridge, despite residents claims that the buildings would ruin the “hamlet feel” to the area.

Several residents in Moss Lea had complained that the rural feel of the area, which contains four large cottages, would be lost if up to 12 new houses were built on open land.

Bolton Council’s planning committee unanimously voted in favour of the plans after hearing that the proposed site had previously had houses on it.
