Just because summer is over and the weather is poor, doesn't mean you have to go back to black and throw away your brights.
In fact, brights have never been more fashionable and the first stop for any self-confessed shopaholic is Dorothy Perkins.
So let's start with the shoes. These jewel coloured ones come in at £30 and are available in yellow, pink and blue – perfect for snazzing up any Friday night little black dress. Grab a clutch in a contrasting colour for £15 and you're all set.
If you've not got the dress sorted then go for this strapless yellow dress at £35. The clutch comes in at £18, we're sensing a handbag theme here. The bright yellow will ensure you stand out nicely by that Christmas tree.
Dorothy Perkins is also offering this green number. With all that detailing you would be forgiven for thinking it would cost you a small fortune, alas no, £45 is on the price tag, what a bargain. The lush colour, the bow detail, the ruffles, one of the best the high street has to offer. Keep it simply by adding this jewelled bracelet at £7. A little black clutch and some plain black killer heels and you'll be the belle of the ball.
Now the next look may be hard to swallow but if you've got the confidence then you can pull it off. Wet look leggings. These purple ones come in at £18 from Rare. The trick is to keep the rest of the outfit plain. We talking black here. Never ever try to colour coordinate when wearing these bad boys. You'll need a t-shirt dress or something similar, remember 1980s leggings look stays in the 1980s, so cover that behind, you'll need shoe boots and you'll need a rocking oversized bag to complete the look. If you're not so fashion forward then go for black leggings and team with other brights.
The body con dress has been massive this year and they keep churning them out. Rare do this gorgeous version for £59. Rare has called it a panelled pencil dress, we would say it's Herve Lager inspired. Whatever you call it it's a fantastic version of the trend. Bright pink, two tone material, bust detailing, we love it. Snap yours up now before it's gone.
If you like the trend but don't want to go overboard then try this belted mac from Matalan at £35. The deep red ensures its not as bright as other versions and if all else fails at least you can take it off to reveal your macabre self. With double breasted detail to suit any shape and a belt to nip it in at the waist, you'll not get caught out in the rain in this one.
Finally it has all come down to the coloured jean. These straight leg jeans with embroidered pockets and diamanté button detail are cheap as chips at £15 from boohoo.com Team with retro t-shirt for a Saturday stroll in the park or sparkly black top for a night out.
Whatever your budget you can at least afford to stay bright this winter.
