HE may be well into his seventh decade, but Cliff Richard could have taught the youngsters a thing or two about stamina during his huge MEN Arena show.
Sir Cliff played two sets, totalling a whopping two hours and 45 minutes. And from Move It to Millennium he proved just why he has racked up hits for the last 50 years.
Aptly named the Time Machine Tour, the audience was taken back to Cliff’s heyday during each song as video took them through his impressive career.
Although the pop hits followed one after another, there was also time for reflection as Cliff dedicated an a capella rendition of Miss You Nights to Caron Keating, the children’s television presenter who died tragically after losing her battle with breast cancer.
But there were plenty of upbeat moments, too.
Rumours that he had renounced his hit Devil Woman turned out to be nonsense, as he sang the hit tune, along with favourites We Don’t Talk Any More, Bachelor Boy, Summer Holiday and Young Ones.
He also announced that he would be returning in September 2009 — with The Shadows.
Until then, fans will have to make do with the complimentary DVD they were given to keep the memories of a fabulous night alive.
