TODAY is Lancashire Day — when Red Rose folk celebrate all that is great about their historic county.
And proud Lancastrians will be marking the occasion in Bolton too, despite the town being pushed into Greater Manchester under local government reorganisation in 1974.
A Lancashire Day proclamation will be read out on the steps of the town hall in Victoria Square at 12.30pm today.
Cllr John Walsh has been asked to deliver the proclamation to the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Anthony Connell, by the Friends of Real Lancashire.
Cllr Walsh said: “Despite local government reorganisation, we are still very much in the county palatine of Lancashire and I hope people come along to hear the proclamation and celebrate that fact.”
