NEWS that the Post Office is to continue the card account has been welcomed by a Bolton postmistress.
Mrs Salma Patel runs the post office at Chorley Old Road, alongside S & A newsagents, where her husband Ahmed is the owner.
She said: “After all the closures, it was very worrying.
“We are the only post office in the area since the one at Higher Chorley Old Road closed and, if we had not kept the card account, it would have been difficult for the elderly customers.
“A lot of customers have been into the post office to say how pleased they were at the news.”
Mrs Patel added: “We are also able to offer a full range of services, including passport checking, travel insurance and foreign currency, as well as greetings cards, newspapers, magazines and a free-to-use cash machine.”
