BOLTON Symphony Orchestra are set to be recording stars when they head into the studio to make their very first album.
The orchestra will be heading into the BBC studios in Manchester to record the album which will include John Williams’ theme from Star Wars, Richard Strauss’ Dance of the Seven Veils from Salome, William Walton’s Spitfire Prelude, Bruckner’s Scherzo, 3rd movement of Symphony no. 4, Leroy Anderson’s Bugler’s Holiday and Ivor Hodgson’s Catstye Cam.
Ivor Hodgson plays double bass for the BBC’s Philharmonic Orchestra, and he composed the concert overture dedicated to the BSO, inspired by a walk up Catstye Cam, a mountain in the Helvellyn range in the Lake District.
They will go into the studio to record on Sunday, and the CD will be on sale at the joint annual New Year concert with Opera North at the Victoria Hall, on Saturday, January 31.
Tickets are on sale at the Albert Hall Box Office in the Town Hall.
