A SERVICE to remember miners who lost their lives in the Pretoria Pit disaster will be held on Saturday, December 20.
In total, 344 men and boys lost their lives in an explosion at the Hulton Colliery in Westhoughton, in what was said to be the largest loss of life in an accident in an English pit, on December 21, 1910.
The service will be held at St Bartholomew’s Church, in Church Street, at 10am.
