Winter Rounders: The New Inn retained top place in the Farnworth League Section A with the narrowest of victories over third-placed Elton Vale A.
They won by just one run and stay ahead of The Grapes A, who are two points behind following a comfortable win over ISS Ladies who are still without a point at the halfway stage of the season.
Capital turned out a severely depleted side against Adlington, but put up a splendid show to lose by just four runs.
Wallys Eleven remain unbeaten in Section B and are two points clear at the top.
They were pushed all the way by BYP B as they won by just nine runs.
With the Eagley League matches cancelled and no spare weeks to rearrange the games, teams were all credited with draws and awarded one point each, Parceline’s point being their first of a difficult season.
The terrible weather meant some games were not finished.
After one innings each, the Section A game between BYP A and AJs was level before the latter chose to concede and head home.
The Section B fixture between BYP C and Elton Vale B was also stopped short as Elton declared 22 runs ahead when they were sure they had secured the points.
The match between Little Lever CC and Blades Barbers also did not go the distance with Blades winning by an innings.
