BOLTON’S second team had a point to prove after losing heavily in the cup the previous week, and they came up trumps.
From the moment Lee McDermott scored the opening try in the first five minutes, there was only one team in it.
They continued to pile on the pressure with storming runs from ex-England sevens international Lee Mills, and swift breaks off the scrum by captain Ash Cooper and McDermott.
Preston were struggling to hang on, and eventually gifted Bolton a penalty scored by Danny Barlow. Prop Ryan Wignall flopped over in the corner immediately after to leave the half-time score 13-0.
Andrew Leigh scored in the corner straight from the restart after some sloppy play from Preston.
After a high pace 60 minutes the lack of fitness showed as Bolton slowed and got sloppy with the ball.
Barlow slotted over a drop goal and another penalty to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Second row Ross Kenny picked up an ankle injury but battled on before eventually being replaced by super sub Nick Bridges.
Preston had a penalty try awarded for a lack of discipline by Bolton on their own tryline, but regrouped quickly and muscled their way upfield for Chris Cockton to score the final try for Bolton.
