SPORTS car racer Peter Bramble has finished runner-up in the North West Cockshoot Cup in his 1966 MGB.
The 51-year-old, who lived in Clifton until moving to Rugby four years ago, has now finished second in the competition four times since taking up racing at the age of 40.
The Cockshoot Cup is a racing championship run by the North West Centre of the MG Car Club.
Heavy goods vehicle driver Bramble is sponsored by Stoneclough based MG specialists Entune and Radio Two DJ Alex Lester.
Bramble’s races have taken place at Oulton Park, Cheshire, Croft near Darlington and Anglesey.
“I always seem to be the bridesmaid, never the winner,” said the philosophical Bramble when assessing his season. “But I love my racing, even though I started at a fairly late stage in my life when I was 40.
“I was drawn to it by my love of MG cars. It is an expensive sport, but I am grateful for the help I receive from Entune and Alex.”
