A TOP MP visited a Bolton school to discuss plans to turn it into an academy.
Beverley Hughes, the children and young people’s minister, was given a tour of George Tomlinson School in Kearsley, which last week voted in favour of the possibility of transforming into an academy. Governors agreed to consider the idea last Tuesday, and are now planning to meet with Bolton Council officials to look at the proposal in more detail.
Mrs Hughes spoke to the school’s headteacher, Rachel Glazebrook, and talked to children during lessons. She looked in on a lesson on healthy eating, as well as an art lesson and the IT suite.
Mrs Hughes was accompanied on the visit by Bolton MP Brian Iddon and Cllr Ebrahim Adia, the council’s executive member for children’s services.
