A BOLTON school is getting ready to stage an ambitious version of the Charles Dickens story, A Christmas Carol.
Westhoughton High School’s production of Scrooge will be a classic tale with a twist, say staff.
Children of all ages will perform in the play, right through from the first year to the sixth form.
But their version will have extra “spectres” and introduce a touch of the surreal.
Drama teacher Catherine Smith said the play would be useful to the older pupils’ studies, as well as the younger ones.
She explained: “It’s so the older students can gain something from it, but without taking away the traditional story.”
The production will be in full traditional costume and will star year 10 student Max Harrison as Scrooge.
The play is on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 7.30pm in the school arts theatre.
Tickets are £5 or £3.80 for concessions.
