A LANDLORD who failed to carry out vital repairs on his property has been fined £3,000 after being prosecuted by Bolton Council.
Orian Kramer, of Prestwich, failed to comply with an improvement notice served by the council in February.
The council’s housing and public health department had received a complaint from the tenant of 34 Huntroyde Avenue, off Ainsworth Lane in Tonge Moor, claiming the property was in serious disrepair. Inspectors found mould and rising damp in the kitchen, no heating, poor insulation and a host of security concerns.
The council served a notice under the Housing Act 2004, but when inspectors returned two months later they found that the notice had not been complied with and a new tenant was in place.
After Mr Kramer failed to complete the work, the council carried it out in default, two months later.
The case was dealt with in Mr Kramer’s absence at Bolton Magistrates’ Court. He was fined £3,000 and ordered to pay the council’s costs of £535 and a victim surcharge of £15.
