Hayward School in Great Lever held its annual presentation evening recently.
It had its best ever GCSE results this summer, with more than half of pupils achieving five A* to C grades.
At the presentation evening, the certificates were presented by Margaret Asquith, Bolton Council’s director of children’s services.
Assistant headteacher Adrian Dawes said: “We celebrated a very successful year. Our results rose from 38 per cent in 2007 to 56 per cent of pupils gaining five A* to C in their exams. There was also a rise in the number of A* and A grades.”
Mr Dawes added: “It is very important to recognise young people’s achievements in this way. It wasn’t just academic achievement that was celebrated, as sporting successes were also recognised at the presentation night.”
