YOUNG actors demonstrated the “do’s” and “don’ts” when it comes to bosses cutting staff numbers.
To ensure local employers understood the dry and technical nature of staff dismissal and redundancies, Bolton solicitors KBL enlisted the help of teenagers from Canon Slade School in Bradshaw to bring alive their seminar on the topic.
They dramatised two possible scenarios — one where an employer, struggling to cope with the credit crunch, has to make sales staff redundant, and the other where a boss believes an employee has been stealing and wants to fire him.
The dramas were complete with “freeze frame” and legal guidance was given at key stages.
Marketing assistant at KBL, Kirsty Carass, said: “This seminar was put on for employers because of the current climate when some firms are having to cut back on staff.
“The use of actors made the subject more interesting than just a lecture and it got those attending the seminar thinking and asking questions at the end.”
KBL has also launched a free employer redundancy helpline, 01204 558298.
