WHARTON have jumped to second place in the Premier Division table after back-to-back wins in the Bolton League.
They beat Hilton A 7-2 and followed this with a 6-3 victory over Radcliffe CC. Glen Payne was unbeaten in both matches and Barry Elliot trebled against Hilton.
Top team Ramsbottom A scored a 7-2 win at Little Lever B which featured the usual three wins by Mick Moir.
Lindsey Reynolds trebled for Burning Desire A who beat Little Lever A 7-2 as did Brian Clemments for Ramsbottom B in their 6-3 victory over Heaton A. Bill Russell and Barry Crook both scored three wins for Hilton A who won 8-1 at Nomads A.
Ramsbottom C who scored maximum points against Hilton C move to the top of Division One with a one point advantage over Burning Desire B who beat Heaton C 8-1.
Wingates lost 8-1 at Little Lever C followed by a 5-4 defeat at Withins A. Ric Simmons and Chris Sutcliffe trebled for Little Lever as did Stuart Wallis for Withins.
Heaton B won 7-2 at Nomads B, the win featuring three wins by Ian Craig and Steve Barber. Craig Bradbury was unbeaten for Ladybridge A who lost 5-4 at Hilton D, and Paul Tatlock scored three wins for Little Lever C in their 5-4 victory over Heaton D.
Heaton E scored an impressive 5-4 win over Division Two top team Meadow Bank thanks to three wins by sub Eric Shaw and two by Paul McCormick.
Ramsbottom D, in second place in the table, also lost 5-4. They were beaten by Hilton E whose Alan Bradshaw and Tony Eardley won two each and Gary Hilton one.
Top Ten leader Mark Martin was unbeaten for Little Lever D who only fielded two eligible players in their 6-3 loss to Meadow Hill A. Stuart McCaig scored three wins and Debbie Wilson and Ben Dudley two each for Withins B, who won 7-2 at Hilton F. Mike Dunn was unbeaten for Heaton F, beaten 5-4 by visitors BEN A, and Farnworth SC A scored an 8-1 victory over two-man Hilton Tigers.
Ladybridge B increased their lead on the top of Division Three by one point to three on the strength of their 9-0 win over Hilton I.
Meanwhile, Coburg, in second place, ran out 8-1 winners at Walkden Meths. Sub Adele Spibey scored three wins, Matthew Field two and Brian Young one for Hilton G in their 6-3 victory at BEN B.
Roy Caswell was unbeaten for Meadow Hill B who beat Farnworth SC B 5-4 The clash between the top two teams in Division Four resulted in a 7-2 win for Heaton H moving them into the top spot two points ahead of St Paul’s Peel.
Alex Meany and Jonathan Clough both scored trebles and there was one victory for Martin Hulton for the winners with Rory McIntyre and Keith Phillips recording one win each for the losers. The Hilton K trio of Peter Crawshaw, Ron Ainsworth and John Parker scored maximum points against the junior Hilton L team. Three wins by Colin Roberts and Phil Beales plus two by sub Dave Hulton for Heaton G who beat Brass 8-1.
