LESSONS were cancelled and teachers threw an all-day party to celebrate a double success for their school.
For not only did Walmsley CE School in Egerton find out this week it was in the top 50 best primaries in the country — it also received top marks from the education watchdog, Ofsted.
There were pyjama and fancy dress parties and many other themed fun events to mark the school’s victories.
Headteacher Debra Carr said: “The achievements have only been made possible by the work of the staff, parents, governors and the pupils. It was a time for celebration. The party was for the children because they don’t understand tables or Ofsted.”
The school came 33rd in The Sunday Times league table of primary schools last week.
Just a couple of days later, the school received the best possible mark from Ofsted inspectors. They found the school to be “outstanding” in all areas.
Inspectors reported: “Inspection findings confirm the school’s judgement that this is an outstanding school which provides excellent value for money.
